“Today we’re gonna violate some rights.”

So I ask you, who has the right to violate my rights? Is it those who have rights just like me? Is it those who don’t have rights like me? Or, is it those who assign those rights to me?

None of the above.. Apparently, the only people who can legally violate my rights, are those who’s duty it is to uphold them. Well, not legally, but by no means illegally, because not one of these perpetrators has faced justice…. What a silly word.

The video we saw in class before Spring Break about the 17 yr old boy who was harassed and attacked by undercover police man for “being a fucking mutt”, and this really… REALLY, irritated me. When you’re a child, you’re always taught “Don’t talk to strangers” and “trust the police”.. at least I was.. Seems for our friend in the Bronx, these ideologies don’t necessarily apply. What is an “unalienable right” if it can be broken?

Even on recording, a police officer clearly breaking the law is protected by some intangible, unbreakable bulwark of bullshit, because according to the recording the officers were racially profiling, and that’s putting it lightly! If any regular man had gone up to this kid, started shouting slurs at him and pushing him, he’d probably be guilty for hate crimes… But no, it’s cool, he’s a cop… An officer of the law is one designated to uphold the law alongside those he protects, to infer a state of equality outside of judgment.. This equality under the law doesn’t exist.. at all.. Especially if you “look suspicious”, or, a more refined definition of suspicious to a police officer: Not white.

So this leads me to ask my second question: What is being upheld? The safety of the average American? Or the protection of the artificial sanctity of being caucasian? I think it’s the white cop just protecting the doctrine of being white in a diverse society, which is essentially fixing the statistics of modern America to have more blacks and hispanics in Jail for nothing than whites for ‘something’.. To permanently instill a sense of purity with White people in contrast to a shamefully oppressed mass of innocent people that were judged for the color of their skin rather than the degree of their crime… Which , statistically, I think 80% of minorities stop and frisked are innocent, and 80% of white people they stop and frisk are guilty…. If this is a statistic that protects white people from inherently “looking suspicious”, then I honestly wish we were all “fucking mutts”, because instances such as this are downright wrong.
